How Much Does A Concrete Sleeper Retaining Wall Cost?

Thinking of getting a retaining wall installed in your yard? there are many types to choose from and it can get confusing. But when looking at all the products, concrete is the best by far in terms on strength and longevity.

Most concrete retaining wall products are modular, which means they fit together very easy and they are perfect for the DIY weekend warrior.

You will need to know a few things like, why do you need or want one? (which should be pretty simple to figure out duh!) you'll need to know regulations from the council, also you will need to find an installer which can not always be easy. And before you even start you will need to know how much the jolly thing is going to cost (probably put this first on the list before you do any hard work).

What Regulations Are There?

If you are going to get a wall installed you are going to want to make sure that your retaining wall builder is licensed, i mean that's pretty obvious, you don't want some cowboy that isn't registered to build your wall and do a bad job then disappear. 

If your retaining wall is higher than 1m you are probably going to need council approval and an engineer, both of these things are pretty easy to do these days and should not take too long or cost too much.

Some states and areas that height is only 600mm high, so just give your local council a call. And if the wall is 1.5m or closer to a dwelling and is retaining that dwelling it will most likely need to be approved.

Why Do You Need A Retaining Wall?

If your backyard is sloped and does not have much use, you could put in a retaining wall to flatten out that land and make a space with some level grass or a paved living area, or you may be higher or lower than your next door neighbors land and will need to retain that land. Concrete sleeper retaining walls are really great for this because they are strong but also they don't take up much room unlike block walls or moss rock walls.

You really need to install concrete for your retaining wall, anything else is wasting your time and money, i mean i sell this stuff so im bias, but seriously its a fact and that is why i sell the stuff. i want it to last!

How Much Does Concrete Sleeper Retaining Walls Cost?

There are a wide range of things to consider.

*Access to the job

*How hard the ground/soil is

*how big or small the job is

*what type of materials you are using

*Design and engineering and council costs

It also depends on how high the wall is, as you will need thicker and stronger sleepers as the pressure of the soil is greater as the wall goes higher.

Take your time when you are looking for an experienced retaining wall contractor for your job.

Are they licensed?

Are they fully insured?

Make sure they write you a formal quote with ABN

Check their history

One of my favorite things to do is to find someone that is highly rated on google business and has a lot of reviews. You know the ones, when you search for a local contractor you get a list of local listings with google reviews, look at them and read through and see what people are saying and how the business responds, google is very credible and it is hard for people to make up heaps of false reviews.
